A client from the security industry approached Wisconsin Metal Parts, Inc. for the fabrication of a steel detent plate to be a part of a locking mechanism. Our tool making experience was an added benefit when this job required production fixtures that we custom designed and manufactured in-house. This order required us to use automatic bar-fed CNC turning, CNC milling and wire EDM processes on C1018 steel to complete the 1.125" diameter plate that had a thickness of 3/8". Also, we applied secondary processes of heat treating and clear trivalent plating for corrosion resistance. Working with location and rotational tolerances of ±.002", the plates met all the high quality standards that we guarantee our customers.
