Wisconsin Metal Parts, Inc. (WMP) has added a new high-speed milling machine to its production CNC machining area. The new equipment, a Fanuc Robodrill compact machining center, will be used to process some of WMP’s higher volume metal production parts.
“The new machine has reduced our previous cycle times by 45 percent, allowing us to be very competitive in running higher volumes right here in the U.S.,” said Dave Holzer, Business Development Manager at WMP. The Robodrill performs high-precision milling, drilling, tapping and other machining on a variety of metal parts and has a 15.7″ x 27.5″ capacity.
“We are utilizing a pallet changer to keep our 24,000 RPM spindle running as much as possible,” Holzer noted. “Our through-spindle coolant runs at 1,000 psi, making high-speed machining possible for aluminum and other metals that need good chip evacuation,” he said.
WMP’s future plans for the high-speed machine may include robotic assistance for loading and unloading multiple machines.
